Become a Member

Your guide to gaining membership with Southwest Montana REALTOR®:


  • Submission of the MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION must be done within thirty (30) days of joining a REALTOR® real estate brokerage.
  • Our application processing time is a minimum of two (2) business days after submission.


  • Payment of all APPLICABLE FEES within ten (10) days of application being processed. An SMR team member will contact you with your payment options.


(Trainings are free and must create your account with the National Association of REALTORS®.)

  • New Member Orientation attendance within sixty (60) days.
  • In person attendance for those within the Greater Bozeman area.
  • Virtual attendance for those outside the Greater Bozeman area but may attend in person if you would like.


Held from 1:00 to 4:30 monthly, providing two opportunities to attend.


Once Orientation concludes at 4:30, a Mix & Mingle will be held from 4:30–5:30 for Orientation attendees, the SMR team, Board Directors, and Committee members. This is a great opportunity to begin making connections, and everyone looks forward to welcoming you to the industry and the association.


(Individual requirements may vary based on Membership type or if reactivating membership.)


  • Upon completion of obligations for gaining membership, your provisional membership will be converted to REALTOR® membership. 


Important to Note:  Unpaid application fees or failure to complete all obligations of membership within the required timeframes will result in your membership being revoked. The following actions will take place:

  • All fees will be assessed to the Broker in Charge of the firm that holds your license.
  • You will not receive any membership benefits.
  • You are not permitted to use the term REALTOR®.
  • Depending on length of time a reactivation fee (less than a year) or new application fee (more than a year) will be required to gain membership, plus completion of any unfulfilled obligations of membership.
